The Upcycling Process
Each Uptown Redesigns original leather bag begins with the selection of an outdated item that still retains salvageable and durable qualities that can be used once again. Sandy is highly selective of the materials she chooses for her upcycled bags, and only incorporates materials that will continue to stand the test of time.
After the selected materials are deconstructed, cleaned, and assessed, Sandy begins the design process. She manipulates and works with each piece and element until she envisions a design that is not only functional and durable, but takes advantage of the material’s assets and original character.
All bags are carefully built to last and incorporate reinforced materials, a sturdy interior base, reliable new hardware, and individualized design details. Most are also lined with weathered vintage military tent canvas for additional character and durability.
Each bag is truly one-of-a-kind, boasting expert craftsmanship, individual attention to detail, and a splash of New Orleans soul stitched into each seam.
